We’ve been there….and sometimes it can be a little overwhelming sorting thru all the information that’s out there.  So, we are going to make it simple for you…it’s not a lot of crazy information, just the basics of what you need to know and some Sassy Tips that we’ve learned along the way!

How many signs do I need for my Garage or Yard Sale?
We get this a lot-and the answer is really easy-first, you’ve gone thru all the work of getting your sale ready, now you want people to get there.  We recommend at least 4 signs, but ideally 6 or MORE is the number to be at.  Remember to sign ALL entries into your neighborhood; if there is more than one way to get in or out-sign BOTH ways, you’ll get more traffic!  Also, keep in mind the busy intersections-it’s a GREAT place to advertise.  Here’s a few placement suggestions.  
  • One in FRONT of your home or place of sale
  • One at the end of your street (remember to sign BOTH ways into your neighborhood)
  • Two or more placed at the cross streets closest to your home/sale
  • Two or MORE at the closest and BUSIEST intersection(s).  
*Miss Sassy Tip: When in doubt, go with MORE signs then you think…you WILL use them.  Remember the more signs, the more people coming to your event!!

What should I write on my Sassy Sign?
All Sassy Signs can be personalized with a Permanent marker or one of our Sassy Sticker packs.  Some people use a Dry-erase marker to put the dates and times so they can re-use the sign for a later date.  This works, however-make sure it’s not going to rain!   We recommend using a permanent marker or using one of our Sassy Letters and Numbers sticker packs and include: The days and times.  Ex:  Fri 8-5, Sat 8-3 OR just put the date like:  Fri. & Sat., just keep it simple.

*Miss Sassy Tip:  Keep it Simple, they will follow the arrows-so, you don’t need a lot of details!

When should I put my Sassy Signs out?
This depends on the area that you live in.  We put our signs out the night before-when there is NOT a lot of traffic.  Some people prefer to put their signs out in the morning-that’s fine too.  Just allow yourself enough time and make sure that your safe walking across the busy intersections.  Check with your city ordinances about signs, we’ve found that if you have your signs out for just a few days, it’s not a problem.  But make sure you take them down after your sale!

*Miss Sassy Tip: Assemble ALL of your Sassy Signs AHEAD of time-BEFORE you are at your stops to put the signs out.
When should I take my Sassy Signs down?

*Miss Sassy Tip: It’s SO helpful if you have help when putting up and taking down your signs, One person to drive and the other to jump out and put up (or take down) the signs.

How and where to advertise?
Of course your best advertising is going to be with your Sassy Signs.  However, we also suggest to list your sale on Craigslist-It’s free and very effective! 
Make sure you add the following details:
  • address (you would be shocked how many sales are posted on craigslist and they forget to add their address!)
  • dates
  • times
  • specific items you are selling (Ex: antiques, kids clothes-girls size 4-6x, adult name brand shoes, skis, athletic equipment, hockey net, boys bike etc).  We have also found that posting pictures of your garage with all your items displayed goes a long way (this is huge with children's clothing!).
Newspapers also work, look for your local papers and websites.   Generally speaking-your signs will do the MOST advertising for you and so that should be your biggest investment for your sale.  In our research, we found that if people put more signs up and advertised for Free on craigslist they had more people at their sales.

*Miss Sassy Tip: Add to your craigslist or newspaper ad:  Follow the: pink or green (whatever color you have) Sassy Signs with the pinwheel to our sale!!  It’s intriguing and will be easy to find!  This is especially true for neighbors/friends having sales at the same time but at different locations, choose different color signs so you can tell your shoppers, follow the 'green' signs to my friends sale. 

Why should I use a sign for my Graduation, Wedding, Shower, Birthday Party or Family Reunion?

*Miss Sassy Tip: Remember to think about the direction people are coming from, you may need a few signs like 2-4 to get people to your event!  Think about the main intersections and ones closest to you.  If you live in a rural area, this is really important!
